Lauren Rottet developed a furniture line long before Rottet Collection was conceived. This collection rested dormant in the detailed archives of numerous award-winning Rottet Studio projects worldwide until several sparks of interest regarding the details of where certain Rottet-designed products could be purchased that the idea of a custom furniture collection came to light.
Lauren Rottet captivates by creating living, breathing, dynamic spaces with a sense of movement and energy through her use of translucent, luminescent, and reflective materials. Central to her practice, Rottet Studio, is both an intellectual curiosity and a passion for art. Her work draws from the Light and Space movement, a seminal art movement that emerged in Southern California during the 1960s and 1970s. Robert Irwin’s immersive installations and Larry Bell’s exploration of transparency and reflection led Rottet to embrace a spatial purity in her practice which carries through to Rottet Collection.
Rottet Collection is the Studio embodied in product design. Building on the idea that furniture should be as artful as it is functional, Rottet Collection offers works of art that serve a human purpose. Formed of light, glass, mirrors, and highly polished metals, the materials manipulate both natural and artificial light, enticing her products to play with the changing light throughout the day to create kinetic environments that are constantly transforming and consistently engaging.
